Hi. I want to wallpaper a bedroom in our 1920's built house. The walls are plastered with a what I think might be an old fashioned lime plaster. It is very weak and collapses easily when drilled.
The room was previously wallpapered and I have stripped them. Am I correct in thinking that it is good practice to wash the old adhesive off with sugar soap before re-papering? If so, is that wise with this very weak plaster? Is there a risk that it will be damaged by washing down with sugar soap?
Can anyone offer other preparation tips, as this is only the 2nd time I've ever thought of papering a wall.
Thanks for your help.
