Skirting and Caulking Issues In Refurbished Conservatory due to Warm Weather?

by Penfold200 » Tue May 22, 2018 10:57 am

We recently had our conservatory refurbished with new frames and glass roof, replacing the old tired upvc and plastic roof. We retained the brickwork.

After the work we decided we would plaster the inside to cover up the original exposed original brickwork.

I boarded and skimmed without any major issues, bar a few minor cracks on board joints. The main issue i'm having is with the skirting.

Since the weather warmed up the skirting has started to move quite drastically. I got it fixed back nicely with no gaps, but now in some places there are 4-5mm gaps in the top edge. Has anyone else had such large movement from timber skirting?

The other issue ive got is the caulking. Ive used an evostick caulk but its just cracking and coming away on skirting and window frame joints. I'm hoping cutting it out and replacing with a better nemesis caulk will cure this (after ive sealed the plaster with emulsion).

Any advice on both problems would be appreciated.
