We have appalling flow from our shared water supply pipe so we're having a new 22mm pipe moled in to create our own separate supply. The plumber who is due to connect the new supply at the internal stopcock has suggested replacing a length of water pipe that runs about 4m to our combi boiler at the same time. He didnt really explain in simple terms why this would be helpful. The rest of the house is 15mm old pipe and we get a delay of at least 1 minute in getting water to our top bedroom (loft conversion--hence combi installed so that previous owners could remove water tank) . I don't know whether it's relevant but the previous owners had a domestic water homebooster pump with tank installed due to the pressure problems which takes up a lot of room outside and we may have removed if it is no longer needed when our mains flow increases from less than 6L/min to the 16L which the moling company anticipate given the pressure at the road. I'm ignorant of plumbing theory but I wondered whether replacing the pipe would be necessary given that the rest of the house has 15mm pipe. Many thanks for any help.
