Cupboard Door From Green MDF Cladding

by Barry_Convex » Mon Mar 04, 2019 9:26 am

Hi, I'm looking for some advice on making cupboard doors.

I'm fitting some butt and bead cladding panels for a client, it's 9MM water resistant MDF. They've asked for a recessed shelf nook to be cupboarded in. A pair of 1300x500mm doors on easy mount sprung hinges.

What's the best way to thicken these panels so that they are stiff enough to be doors? I laminated some with 5mm ply over the weekend but it's banana'd by about an inch over the weekend. (under floor heating? Didn't even know it had it until this morning! )

Thicker ply?
15mm pine batons around edge?

Any advice would be much appreciated
Ta.

Use a 9mm MR MDF frame on both sides.
