Wondering if someone can help me! I am a DIYer but am learning new stuff everyday!!
I have recently removed some laminated flooring from the dining flooor to reveal quarry tiles. There was a channel of tiles that had been removed and it had been filled with some kind of concrete. This concrete had buldged significantly. I have chiseled this concrete all away. Underneath the concrete was a much paler concrete that was quite crumbly and therefore I have removed this as well. Any ideas why the concretr buldged in this way?
Underneath the crumbly concrete it appears is some kind of flat metal beam. This has corroded a bit on the top and there is some flaky black corroded material. I am trying to work out what exactly the metal beam is? Does anyone have any ideas? The floor is a concrete floor which is suspended as there is a full height basement underneath.
The plan is to fill the gap where the tiles are missing to the right level and to relay tiles using some reclaimed quarry tiles that we have found to be the right size. Any suggestions on the best material to use to fill the gaps?
