I'm currently in the process of updating my downstairs toilet and would like tiles to eventually be laid on the floor; unfortunately, the floor is not level and requires floor leveling compound being poured. However, I have two concerns that I hope someone can advise me on prior to pouring.
I have the houses main water pipe (the blue pipe) comes into the room (please see images) and I've read that the chemicals in the floor leveling compound/concrete can eat away or damage copper pipes, should I be concerned?
Also, the previous toilet was cemented into the floor, as was the waist pipe, which can be seen in the photos.
Does the size of the waist pipe need to be the same foot print size as of the original ceramic waist pipe or can I reduce the diameter down to just what's needed? As I'm thinking that if I don't do something about it now there would be a void underneath the area where the old ceramic waist pipe was.
If so, how would you proceed? I'm thinking that I could perhaps get a section of drain pipe, slightly bigger then the black plug already in the hole and seal the base of the drain pipe with some silocone then cement around edge. Once dried, I could then pour the floor leveling compound. Would that work?
