I want to put down vinyl click tiles in a kitchen the problem being there is a difference in floor height of 5 mm across the room from the old kitchen area to the one added 2 years after the house was built. How do I deal with a difference in height?

What is the original floor? If it's concrete then I would screed it. If it's floorboards then maybe cover the whole floor with a 20mm MDF.
