Looking for advice please as my kitchen fitter hasn’t oil coated the underside of my newly installed oak worktops. They are fitted, taps and hobs fitted and 1st top coat on . He did quote for 2 underside coats but he has overrun the job and I just want to check that he isnt cutting corners.

If I don't have the underside coated what is the risk please?

Personally I have never oiled the underside of a worktop. Partly as you would never be able to reach it. The only way to achieve it would be to put the oil on before fitting the top. However this then creates the problem when silicone is applied as this will not adhere to an oiled surface.

I don't think your joiner has done anything wrong here, except maybe promise something that never needed doing.
