Portacabin as a (very) temporary 'video diary-room' booth? Questions and answers on many aspects of soundproofing areas of your home

I need to transform a 3 x 3m room within a site portacabin into a booth suitable for conducting video interviews. The surroundings will be fairly busy with crowd-noise, and the unit contains a "low noise" generator (though this obviously isn't in the same 'room' that we'll use for filming).

If that isn't enough, my set-up time will be a mere matter of hours.

Is there a solution that can do anything to reduce noise coming into the cabin to a minimum, or am I barking up the wrong tree (so to speak).

What an interesting challenge. There are a number of points to consider.

Airborne noise coming into the room. Use masking tape over any cracks into the room. Round windows and doors. The aim is to seal any cracks and make them air tight.

Structure borne noise. Given your circumstances there is not much you can do here. Perhaps explain to people using adjoining rooms what you're doing, tell them when you're doing your interviews, and ask them 'to run silent'.

Close mic-ing will help overcome problems associated with small rooms.
