Caulk or Silicone Between Plaster and Window?

by Bentura » Thu Aug 01, 2019 5:13 pm

Hi Everyone,

I’m redecorating a room and we have stripped wallpaper off down to the plaster board. Whilst doing this, we have pulled out what looks like silicone from between plaster boards, and then between plaster and a window frame. Look like the previous owners put silicone over the wallpaper and window frame. My question is, should I use caulk in between the plaster boards, and do the same near the window? I was then tempted to put a bit of silicone over the caulk near the window frame before we put lining paper up. Just not sure of the best material. I can try and upload pictures once I can reduce the size of them!

Cheers

Silicone sealant is waterproof and generally harder wearing than caulk so is best used in bathroom or kitchen environments. It stays flexible, which can make it suitable for filling gaps between your skirting and a hard floor where movement is possible.
