I a writing from the Czech Republic . I have an old house , 1713 . Over here they used coal burning stoves . On the other side of the wall where the stove used to be is a large open hole just like an open fire which we have used as an open fire many times but the space is very deep and all the heat goes up the chimney . It does not smoke and burns really well . I need to make the space shallower . What would I need ? Would a back of metal work and metal sides to reflect the heat ? Any help very greatfully received . Builders here don t know about open fires
