by srlthm » Sun Sep 16, 2007 10:22 pm

Hi, can anyone please help no hot water coming out of the taps, boiler and radiators are all ok we tried the air lock thing but not sure if it's that or something else as the cold water tank isn't filling either, any help appreciated.

Sounds like a problem with the cold water supply or the ball valves.

Make sure all isolation valves are open (these may have been closed if you've had work carried out lately.

From the float on the ball valves, follow it up till you come to the end of the arm, when the arm lifts up it presses a small pin into the valves closing the cold supply, ensure this pin has popped back out, and it moves freely.

You may need a new ball valve

you say the cold water tank is not filling does that mean its empty
if not and there is water in the tank the water outlet may be blocked or a gate vale is closed on the feed pipe to the tank
