I have a pre-1900s Victorian terrace that has been built with soft, yellow London stock bricks. Unfortunately someone has done a bad repointing and rendering job with cement on the back wall and around a bay window.
The render is now cracked and coming off, and the cement 'pointing' is so bad, even if I painted it I don't think it would help.
How would you recommend fixing these issues? I want to use lime mortar and no cement, as it's already caused a lot of issues for the soft brick.
Can I render in lime next to cement render? Will there be any bonding issues I should be aware of, and can deal with?
Thanks very much for your response!
