Framing a 77 x 33" door for garden studio

by Paddypower95 » Mon Jul 13, 2020 10:21 pm

Building a garden studio/outhouse and have ran into a problem with the exterior door. The door I have is an internal 1955x838 oak, but have picked up a standard 1981x838 hardwood frame for it. I can't find any 1955 door frames, and I am keen not to pay for a custom built one due to my budget.
I have thought about extending the door height by gluing some hardwood strip wood to the end - however the area the building is in can get very wet and damp. I am worried this may damage the door with time due to contraction and rot etc, even if I stain and treat it well.

Any advice is welcome, I am well aware that I probably need a new door, but if anyone can think of a way around it it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi paddypower95
Probably easier to fit strips to the frame to reduce the opening size however the success of using an internal door externally will be your experiment.
