Removal of paint from external masonry cills

by warwickshirelad » Wed Sep 09, 2020 11:13 am

Hello - hopefully the picture will have attached. We're having our old windows replaced and need to prep the external brick cills they sit on first. It looks like we have 100+ years of pain on them and while there is some flaking which we can get under to scrape other areas are pretty solid.

What would you recommend? Paint stripper? Heat gun? Angle grinder with wire brush? Anything else???

thanks in advance

Hi Warwickshirelad
Remove all loose paint and then it is a matter of trial and error. Some paint may have penetrated the cill surface so you may never get back to the original surface.
