Featherboard - trap thin or thick edge?

by jim@grady.club » Mon Oct 05, 2020 9:36 pm

Hi, I've had a look at featherboard fencing instructions and conventionally you have the thick edge positioned over the thin edge. However my existing fence is the other way round. The thin edge is secured on top of the thin edge. Is this a problem?

We need to replace 2 out of the 5 panels. Should I ask the fencer to replace the panels the conventional way... which would contrast to the exsiting panels. Or should I ask the contractor to secure the new panels the same way as the originals... which would look much better.

Any thoughts?

thanks

Jim

Hi jim@grady.club
It's your call, nailing through with the thin edge on top will create more split timber than if the thick edge is on top.
