Having issues with our solid fuel heating

by Kris Small » Sun Feb 07, 2021 10:57 am

Hi
We have been having issues with our solid fuel heating . The radiators get extremely hot and the water tank starts bubbling and pipes start rattling . This only happens when the timer is active and the heating is OFF . When the heating is on constant it never happens . Only prob is that the house is like a sauna and clearly we use more fuel . Turning the thermostat down doesn’t work . We replaced the seals on the boiler doors ( a trianco 80 ) as were told that air must be stoking the fire but again made no difference . Anyone out there got any more ideas or even a solution please please help
Regards
Kris

Hi krissmall
Unfortunately solid fuel boilers do not work well with heating controls as you have found. There is an inherent latency in a solid fuel boiler which can partly be compensated for by system design and installation.
If your boiler does not reduce its burn rate when the controls tell it to do so you do need to have this sorted. Suggest you search Hetas for a local qualified engineer.
