No hot water when the cylinder thermostat is switched on

by mattwood » Wed Mar 10, 2021 8:51 pm

Hi all - any help gratefully received.
I have an unvented system. The central heating is called for and works but only when the cyclinder thermostat is switched off ( otherwise the pump and boiler switch off).
There is no hot water. The 2 port motor valve to the cylinder makes a clicking sound but will not move.
Do i need an new motor(£20), port valve(£80) or cylinder thermostat(£20)?
If i have left out any info needed, please let me know.

Hi mattwood
Remove the valve head and see if the shaft turns easily - if it does replace the head, if not replace the valve body.
Regards S
