Surveyor query for checking work to roof

by zipp66 » Sun May 16, 2021 6:37 pm

Hi everyone,
We are in the end stages of roof work to our property and have decided to employ a surveyor to check that the work has been done to a correct standard.
Can anyone advise me what kind of surveyor I should be employing for this?
I am thinking Chartered Surveyor but would appreciate any advice at all.
The roofing company are eager to drop the scaffholding and get the job signed off asap are we within our rights to ask that they keep up the scaff so we can get the surveyor to inspect the work?
Many thanks
Zipp

Hi zipp66
You are rather too late getting the work checked - this should have been done as the work progressed. Surveying now would require part stripping of the roof. Assuming it’s a re-roof this should have been checked by your local Building Control Department in this case they would issue a building approval notice.
