Digging post hole into old stone wall foundation

by Deano2015 » Wed Jun 09, 2021 7:20 pm

Hello all,

I've just taken down an old stone wall to make way for a fence to extend the length of my garden. I'm a first time fencer and hit a snag already. The concrete foundation of the old wall seems pretty deep into the ground. What's my options here? Do I dig it out completely or is there a way to use that concrete as a base for the post? Answers on a postcard please and thanks for your help in advance

Hi deano2015
If you are planning a low fence or wire mesh one you could use metpost bolt down anchors into the existing foundations. They are not really strong enough for a 6ft panel fence.
