Waste vent pipe blocked and causing strong drain smell

by jdrunvs2 » Mon Jun 21, 2021 11:22 am

My house is 15 years old, I have a strong drain smell in the upstairs bathrooms, the drains toilet and shower seem to run away ok, I have heard about a blocked waste vent pipe but cannot find one anywhere in or outside the house, can anyone assist in where to look and how do I check kit.
Many Thanks
John

Hi jdrunvs2
There should be an open stack at the highest point in your system - generally this is above roof level.
You may have an air admittance valve in the bathrooms and these may not be sealing properly. You need to trace your system to determine what is installed.
