Creaking chipboard floor

by Barrysh » Thu Sep 08, 2022 9:20 pm

Hi. I've got a very noisy creaking nailed chipboard floor upstairs. You stand at one end of the room and it creaks at the other end. I intend to take it up and glue and screw it back down. I have purchased some expanding chipboard glue. Any advice/tips on the best way to use the glue.

Hi barrysh,
I'm not sure that gluing will help. Use part threaded self cutting screws and don't sink the screws any more than flush with the board surface. Once you have lifted the boards do a plan showing exactly the position of any wires and cables.
Regards S
