Installing a new thermostatic mixer bar and isolating water supply

by apb123 » Mon Sep 19, 2022 3:53 pm

My shower mixer bar has broken and only hot water comes out. I can source a replacement bar easily. However I cant find any isolation of the water supply too the shower room.

The problem is stopping the water supply. Can I just turn the water off at the mains and drain the hot water tank, and then just replace the bar.

It should be easy because there are two attachments 150 mm apart that I just will replace.

Hi apb123,
If you are on mains fed hot and cold, turn off at your mains stopcock and relieve the pressure by open a hot and cold tap.
If you have a tank fed system have a look for a twin pump which will have valves on it and you can isolate your shower from there.
If you do not have a pump look for valves - probably in an airing cupboard next to a hot water cylinder if you have one.
Regards S
