Curtain pole fixings coming away from wall

by markfranklin » Tue Nov 22, 2022 9:58 am

Hi all and I would be very grateful for any help with this issue.

Forgive me, as I am an utter DIY numpty.

In my daughter's bedroom we have a curtain pole which rests on three brackets which are screwed to the wall. Two of these brackets (the middle one and end one) are coming away from the wall. They look to have been put in correctly with rawplugs and the right size screws but something is amiss.

I would like to know the best way to get this fixed. I am guessing I need to fill the holes and re-do the fixings but unsure if you can drill in to the same holes (i.e. through the filler).

Any guidance greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Hi markfranklin,
Depends on what is below the plaster, so move the brackets and refix them clear of the existing holes.
Drill the wall to find out what you are fixing into : plaster on brick or concrete lintel - drill deep enough and use screws long enough to hold in the brick; plaster on steel lintel - try to drill into the steel and fix into this.
