Changing 2 way, 2 gang switch in a corridor

by Mjroberts » Tue Dec 06, 2022 5:29 pm

I’m trying to replace a 2 way, 2 gang switch in a corridor but none of the wiring diagrams I have found makes sense with the wires and colours that are there. Here’s a picture of the old switch and the new one I want to put in. Could you let me know which wire goes where. In the old switch the red wires are both going into ports marked COM but the other ports aren’t marked.

I have yet to see a light switch that has no markings on the back, how else would you know where to connect what? (Yes, you could test said switch)
As for colours and what goes where, there is no regulation in UK wiring for lighting that says what colour must be used for what. It does catch a lot of people out. There is however one hope, 2 way switching means there must be 2 switches, I can only suggest you look at the other switch, as in order for 2 way switching to work, both switches must be connected the same.
