Plywood subfloor for laying vinyl flooring

by Swank1982 » Tue Dec 13, 2022 11:00 pm

Hi
I am having Vinyl (on a roll?) flooring fitted in a bedroom and have been advised to lay a 4mm or 6mm ply subfloor prior to fitting over floorboards.

Taking the skirting boards off is not an option, do I need to leave an expansion gap around the Perimeter for expansion or is this not necessary. If so how big is recommended?

Thanks in advance

Ricky

Hi swank1982,
Suggest you leave a 2/3mm expansion gap around the perimeter but more importantly keep the ply indoors for a few days to acclimatise to your house environment.
