How do I properly measure and cut wood for a project?

looking for accurate measurements i can do on my own.

don't quite understand the question.

Use a tape measure
Choose imperial or metric
If you can always try to cut a mm or 2 long and shave down to get max accuracy
Get a mitre saw to get accurate cuts or use a circular saw and learn to cut straight
Get a square to help with getting square cuts
etc etc etc
