Downpipe into concrete step

by Green1508 » Sat Jul 22, 2023 4:04 pm

Hello
Our downpipe from the gutters merges with our bath water outlet and goes into a hopper. It then goes directly into our concrete back step.

We now have a blockage as water is coming out of the bottom of the step when we shower/have a bath.

How do we unblock it if we can see the drain?

Hi green1508,
If the downpipe goes to a foul drain you should be able to find where this joins the main drain - there should be an inspection chamber. You can then clear the drain from there.
It may be that in the past grey water from your bath has been fed into a surface water pipe linked to a soakaway.
If this is the case you’re in trouble - digging out is the only solution plus modifying the bath waste to feed into the foul drain.
Regards S
