Immersion timer wiring and timer not working

by londoner000 » Mon Jul 24, 2023 10:33 am

My immersion works, but the timer setting does not (if that makes sense). The immersion will fire when switch is on, timer, or off - but the actual timer does not work (when the timer is set to be 'off' the immersion will still turn on).

The attached picture shows the wiring as it was when I moved in and a wiring diagram from the instruction manual.

I just want to check whether there is a simple fix I can do to the wiring, or whether I need to buy a new unit/call an electrician in.

If you look at the wiring diagram you posted, then compare that to the actual wiring, you will see that it is wired wrong.

It would also be advisable to set the timer to the right time, and check it several hours later to see has it moved. But it is still wired wrong.

It does seem the brown wire on the right is one terminal to the left of where it should be, that is what I would do as a quick fix if timer went faulty until I could get a new timer, so as Mr White says make sure timer is OK before moving wire.
