Bathroom wall near toilet - splash protection ideas

by mcauleyalan » Wed Sep 18, 2024 7:01 am

Hi,

Im hoping the photo attaches as its my first post here! I am looking for ideas to protect the wall surrounding the toilet in a rental flat. I am starting the redecorating to freshen it up and the wall is very close to te toilet. The cistern lid allows a few milimetre clearance from the wall.

I was looking for ideas to protect the surrounding wall from splashes and for cleaning and hygiene reasons.

I was thinking of sturdy adhesive roll, or white glossy perspex, acrylic, plain or other clever ideas that are functional and waterproof, sound etc.

Has anyone donme anything like this before? Any best product suggestions, Im opn a tight budget but would want it to look good!

Thanks
Alan

Hi mcauleyalan,
A sheet of clear plastic will protect the area to the side of the loo, fix at the top only using mirror screws so it can be removed for cleaning. This will not protect the skirtings nor the hole in the rear wall at pan level which will be a tenting target for those bored with the pan.

HI stoneyboy

Yup, your not wrong on that for those tempted! Otherwise, yeah, Im going to go with the clear plastic and mirror screws. Then the walls can be any colour.

Cheers!

Hi mcauleyalan,
Make the holes for the mirror screws a loose fit or you may get bowing of the plastic.
