Parquet flooring

by IreneD » Wed Oct 24, 2007 9:05 pm

We were hoping to sand our parquet floor in the hall and dining room, however we had forgot that there is tiles where the fireplace once was
Now suggestions include polish the tiles and have a large floral arrangement there???
Put a rug - wouldn't look good against the wall?
When I suggested to OH about taking up tiles and putting some new parquet flooring he said you would have to do the whole floor again. Is there anything else someone could suggest - was so looking forward to not having to lay carpet again.

I would try to take some old blocks from under a wall unit or from around the edge and then replace those with new blocks that way you will split them up so they wont show up so much

A word of caution here about lifting blocks from other areas. They will probably be stuck down with bitumen which forms a Damp Proof Membrane. Lifting old blocks almost always damages this DPM.
An alternate solution would be to source old blocks to replace the tiles, sand the whole floor and stain it to match
