Damp kitchen and bedroom wall

by mandeep76 » Sun Nov 18, 2007 5:21 pm

Hi, I have a damp or condensation problem in 2 rooms.

1. Kitchen. The inside on an external wall has paint that has bubbled and flaked. Last year, I rubbed this down to the plaster, painted it with upva/water mix, then with paint...the following morning it had flaked. The kitchen does has an air vent in the damaged wall, as well as a extractor.

2. The bedroom above the kitchen also has bubbled flaked paint, with what looks like salt deposits on it. Again, this room does have a vent in it.

The roof of the house is a flat roof, but I have not cheked this out yet to see if it is damaged.

Any guidance would be appreciated

Mandeep

sounds like a penertrating damp problem. salt is a good indication that moisture has passed through the wall. the flat roof could be the cause, also check gutters for leaks.
