renovating wooden floor

by sandyb00ts61 » Mon Jan 07, 2008 3:30 pm

Hi, i need to re-do a victorian floorboard floor. it was previously finished in Ronseal all in one wood finish in dark oak, now unavailable, with diamond hard gloss varnish over the top. The varnish is a mess and completely off in some placesthe coloring is also very patchy. Help! :( What is the best wah to renovate this floor?

See our projects on replacing a timber floor and sanding a timber floor.

As per the Doctor the Project page is a good start. The Ronseal product coloured the wood and as such you will need to also re-stain the floor to achieve a similar colour, or leave it un-stained for that natural look.
If you intend staining the floor I would suggest finding a professional as this is tricky to do right first time.
If you need more info just come back to us.
