Wiring concern

by chrisH » Thu Apr 12, 2007 12:00 pm

Hello,

I may be being stupid here, but thought I had better check. I've recently moved to a new flat.

I have one of those freeview boxes for digital TV, and I have noticed that it seems to crackle/flinch momentarily when my dishwasher is running in the next room, as if there has been a small surge. Does this mean that there is a problem with the wiring?

What you are seeing is the effect of radio frequency (rf) energy which is produced by an electrical spark; it is nothing to worry about. Most electrical equipment which is switched on/off produces this effect.
