I have recently moved in to a new house with a radiator heating system on the first floor and underfloor heating on ground floor.

My problem is that when the heating for the first floor comes on, the noise of the radiators is intense. It is a sound of high pressure water being forced through the radiators. I have tried turning down the pump on the boiler to the minimum 1, but this still does not make a difference. I have a Grundfos pump UPS 25-80 180 and i have been told this is far too large a pump for the house and especially just the first floor. Can anyone help?? Really desperate for some quietness! :?

The Grundfos 25-80 is designed for small commercial heating systems - so yes it probably is too powerful for your system. A 15-50/ 15-60 should be adequate for a normal domestic heating system.

Also noises when the heating is on, is probably the pump - but can also be air in the system. When you fit the new pump - vent the pump and all radiators.
