Block paving repair

I have had to lift a section of my block paved driveway. How far below the existing surface should I set the sand layer for relaying

How far below the existing surface should I set the sand layer for relaying[/quote]fill the area with sharp sand and place the blocks back in the are where you removed them making sure they protrude about half an inch above the surrounding blocks then cover with kiln dried sand or play groung sand and use a whacker plate to compact down to the same level as existing surface
