Hot water!!!

by bovineking » Mon Mar 10, 2008 10:41 pm

Hi, was wondering if anyone could help with this one? Our boiler has always been a bit iffy, but on over the weekend it decided it was not going to give us any hot water. It heats the radiators like there is no tomorrow and keeps on setting the bolier going but not giving us any ot water. We had a new valve fitted today and it seemed to work, but now 12 hours later it seems to be doing the same again. Am I missing something really simple? Thermo at hot water tank is set at 60 and water temp at boiler is set at 4 out of 6. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you mean new 3 port valve or actuator head was replaced ?

What happens if you put HW only on ? do the rads heat ?

Turn on CH and HW, leave for abit to allow it to heat up - go to the 3 port valve all 3 pipes should be hot, if the HW one isn't then the actuator isn't turning.

Remove the actuator/motorised valve, and select hot water only, and see if the D shaped aperture turns. Then select water and heating. If it's not turning then that's the fault, if this is what was replaced - then it could just be a loose wire. If it wasn't replaced i would replace it.

If the system was drained to fit a new 3 port valve - then there could be an airlock.
