Couple of shower pump questions

by Heeber » Tue Mar 11, 2008 11:06 am

Hi folks,
my en-suite & bathroom project continues....

I want to add a shower pump to the en-suite system. I have a H/W tank in airing cupboard right next to the shower (thru a stud partition). Cold in loft.

- what determines how powerful a pump I can use? The H/w tank is 140litres (would need to measure cold tank dimensions). Obviously would like as powerful as poss! (was also wondering how it would affect any other taps running at the same time)

- should I site the pump on the platform that the h/w tank sits on in the airing cupboard, or on the floor underneath? Am think noise & vibration here (this is an upstairs room too.)

- would prefer to avoid the hassle/expense of a york/surrey flange if poss - however, concerned that I might damage the pump if air gets into the feed (or will it just be noisy). Is it safe to go without, then retrofit if a prob?

Many thanks,
Heeb
