Tiling on to a wooden floor plywood to joist matching Advice and information on tiling and fixing tiles to a variety of surfaces

I am tiling my bathroom floor and have followed advice to fit 12mm marine ply over the new waterproof boarding also just fitted. The problem is the standard ply is 607mm wide and the joists are 400mm centres. Do I need to line up the joins on the ply with the joist to avoid flexing or will the board floor plus 12mm ply be strong enough to have joins anywhere between the joists on to the board (the board floor runs across the joists and the ply runs with the joists (as advised). Or will I need to cut every ply board to 400mmm wide.

IN MY VEIW, IN SMALL ROOMS, BOARD ORIENTATION ISN'T SO CRITICALLY IMPORTANT.

WHAT IS IMPORTANT IS TO TRY TO LAY THE SHEET/S IN AS FEW PIECES AS POSSIBLE.

DEPENDING ON FLOOR AREA, AND SHAPE TRY TO LAY ONE OR TWO LARGE SHEETS (8' X 4' SHEETS)-(FEWER JOINTS= LESS MOVEMENT).

STAGGER JOINTS RATHER THAN MAKING CONTINUOUS ONES.

SCREW BOARDS TO FLOOR IN A 250-300mm CENTRE GRID PATTERN AND IDEALY PUT A FEW LONGER SCREWS IN THROUGH TO JOISTS.

IF YOU WANT, YOU COULD ALSO USE WOOD ADHESIVE IN BETWEEN BOARDS AND SHEETS FOR ADDITIONAL STABILITY.

USE OF SENSOR AND OF CORRECT LENGTH SCREWS IS ADVISED TO PREVENT PUNCTURING OF PIPES OR CABLES AND TO LOCATE JOISTS.
