I have an odd problem in that I live in a flat with communal heating and the pipe that connects with next door goes through the kitchen wall. There was a hole around the pipe which was letting cooking smells into our flat from next door. When we re-fitted out kitchen we filled the hole with polyfilla and for over 6 months we have had no smells. Last weekend it started up again and on inspection (having to dismantle one side of the kitchen!) we found that the filler had shrunk and had cracks in. The pipe is always hot as it is the source for our communal heating and what we need to do is seal it once and for all (we don't want to keep dismantling our kitchen). We bought expanding foam, but unfortunately there is nowhere for the foam to expand into (if you see what I mean). We need to find a sealant that will withstand heat and not allow anything through (even smells). Can anybody help please?
