MARBLE CONGLOMERETE PEELING TABLE TOP SURFACE

[b]PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP.I HAVE A VERY HEAVY BLACK MARBLE (WHICH I BELIEVE IS A COMPOSITE MIXTURE.NOT SOLID MARBLE)
COFFEE TABLE OF WHICH THE SURFACE IS STARTING TO PEEL AWAY IN PLACES LEAVING A DULL COLOUR UNDERNETH.I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT IS COATED WITH A RESIN OR SOMETHING LIKE.IT COST £500 SO IS WORTH GETTING REPAIRED.I JUST DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THIS TYPE OF THING.I BELIEVE FIREPLACES ARE MADE OF SIMILAR.BUT WHAT IS THIS SURFACE STUFF THAT LOOKS LIKE THIN PIECES OF GLASS BREAKING AWAY.PLEASE PLEASE HELP WITH ANY ADVICE NO MATTER HOW SMALL :cry: [/b]

Might be better to get some free quotes from stone masons for this. If the table is worth £500.00 having someone who is insured do the work is well worth the money it may cost.
