Removing Floor Adhesive Residue from Flotex Tile Floor

Hi,
I've taken up a flotex floor in my kitchen. I'd like to keep the plastic(vinyl?) tiles that were below, however the flotex was fixed with a very stick adhesive which had left a residue on the tiles.
I've read elsewhere that residue can be cleaned off with WD40 and a plastic scraper. I've tried a test area and this does work - but very slowly. It took an hour to clear half a dozen tiles.
Does anyone know what products / tools would do the job quicker?
Thanks!
Nick
