I have a non load-bearing cylindrical pillar outside of the house. It appears to have of thin fiberglass outer surface. The fiberglass encapsualtes a filling which is orange/redish in colour and sandy in texture. I know this because the fiberglass has split in several places, mainly within 2 ft of the bottom of the pillar. I guess the filling could be a weak concrete/mortar or just sand. It is damp. I'm not sure whether the splitting of the fiberglass happened in the winter (i.e. freezing of filling) or summer (i.e. heating of filling) or just because of old age (50 yrs?). I can't afford to replace the pillar with new. Can anyone suggest a repair product that will work with the filling of the pillar being damp?
