Cleaning up Adhesive on Kitchen Cupboards

Can anyone help please? My father in law is tiling my kitchen and has got the adhesive/grout on my kitchen cupboards. How do I get this off? The cupboards are synthetic with a wood grain effect and it’s stuck in the grain.
