Glue to bond metal strip to granite post

Hi
I need to glue a small metal strip/bar to a granite post but I'm not sure what will work. I tried some epoxy and the strip just fell off.
The back of the trip is smooth metal and so there is no grip on it, so I am basically attaching smooth to smooth.
Any suggestions?
