Filling gap in plasterboard around New consumer unit

Hi 👋

Please could I ask for some advice on how to repair/fill a gap in plasterboard left after we had our consumer unit changed? I'll attach a picture, but it seems the lre is a piece of wood batten behind the unit, we are unsure if we should just buy a piece of plasterboard to fit into the gap, or get a plasterer to come and sort it properly. We have very limited skills unfortunately, my partner is worried about there being a draught from the gap behind the consumer unit.

What would be the best way to sort this? Many thanks for any help or advice 😊

Hi katyface,
It looks like the battens have been fitted as part of the installation of the new consumer unit. They appear to protrude in part around the edge of the consumer unit. To allow for making a plaster finisher around the consumer unit the batten needs to be refitted so it does not protrude, this will allow for a mesh to be fitted and plastered in place.
