how to affix cast iron range surround to wall w/out nails?

Hello!
I recently had two walls in the kitchen of my 1890s terrace house damp proofed which entailed putting up a layer of material that cannot ever be punctured with nails or screws (or anything else). One of these walls houses the original cast iron range and is a nice feature. The surround is cast iron as well, and I'm not sure how to affix it to the wall around the range as I can't use nails or screws. Is there an adhesive product strong enough for this job that anyone out there recommends?
Thanks in advance!
Alicia
