Covering Vinyl Flooring Tiles

by Ernie M » Thu Dec 06, 2007 7:42 pm

My kitchen floor is covered in old, hard vinyl tiles which have a pattern cut into them. They would be almost impossible to remove. I now wish to lay a new vinyl floor over them but the cut pattern would show through sooner or later so I have to stop this happening. I expect a floor levelling compound would be good but if I use that then anything that the compound touches or sets against would be glued in quite solidly which I don't want to happen. It would not be necessary to cover the floor completely to protect the whole floor as no one walks to the very edge of a room (not often, anyway). My kitchen units have just been installed but due to delays I could not get the floor covered first. Any advice would be appreciated.
