log fires (fitting)

Hi ,advice please .I would like to put a small log burner in a room in our bungerlow.The room is an extension.My queston is, as there is no chimney so can i have the flue as a focal point in the room going up to ceiling level ( or just under) going through the double brick wall and the prodruding past the guttering (meeting building regs).
I hope this makes sence

The fitting and building of chimney is now controlled by your local council, have a word with them.
You can buy several types of prefabricated chimney now, so you are sure to find something you like.
