polishing a concrete floor

Hi,

I'm about to move into a an appartment with wooden/carpeted flooring. I intend to include a polished concrete floor in the refurbishing of the property but am on a recession budget! There is already a concrete floor underneath the wood and carpet, can I simply polish this? I can't really see why there would be a problem myself. If so, does anybody have any idea of the cost of having it proffesionally polished?
Thanks,
James.

There is no reason why an old slab can't be polished but be prepared for a lot of mess. It will have to be ground first to expose the aggregate. Specialist job and any cot will depend on its condition. Anyone who quotes will need to see. Get some quotes in is my suggestion.

Cheers

seen some nice work on ConcreteBUZZ site. I was thinking of starting to do it myself after seeing some of there members work.. Remember it will be a cold floor if its going straight to the foundations, Under floor heating might be a better idea, then re-pour and polish new stuff. Not cheap, but better I think.
